August 23, 2008 ~ Las Vegas Trip, Part 1

We had a four days three nights trip to Las Vegas at the end of August. We left on August 22, Friday morning from Detroit Metro Airport to Las Vegas McCarran Airport. I took some pictures in Metro Airport:

After checking the luggage, we spent some time for the breakfast at Metro Airport:
Waiting for boarding to Northwest Airlines flight to Las Vegas, Nevada:
We took off on time. It took around 3-4 hours from Detroit Airport to McCarran Airport, Las Vegas. We strapped in and...
ready to explore Las Vegas... ready to take a picture... :)
We spent around 4 hours to the destination. We landed at Las Vegas around 10am in the morning, 3 hours time different with Michigan.

Welcome to Las Vegas!! Yeah, no surprise!! Slot Machines everywhere!! Amazing!!
McCarran Airport, Las Vegas!!
We walked through the McCarran Airport to pick up our lagguages:

I spent my first dollar on the slot machine at Las Vegas while waiting for our lagguages

The weather in Las Vegas was 114 Fahrenheit, which is about 46 Celsius. Can u imagine how hot it was? As it located in Desert area, so the hot is understable. The weather compare with Malaysia, I think I prefer the weather in Las Vegas, as it is dry heat instead of huminity. You will feel hot but you will not feel nasty because is dry heat.

This is McCarran Rental Car Center. We took shuttle bus from McCarran Airport to the Rental Car Center. After registering, we picked up the car at the garage. A guy told us to pick any midsize car in the garage. We thought we probably will get a pretty decent or luxury car in the garage. It did not happend as we thought. There was only one car in Midsize area for us to pick. We ended up with a Chevrolet Malibu, 2008. It is a pretty decent car.
After picked up the car at McCarran Rental Car Center. We set up the GPS to locate our hotel. We stayed at The Orleans Hotel and Casino, which is located off the Main Stripe. Actually, it is a pretty decent hotel, just simply becuase it located off the Main Stripe. So, no much people like to stay at The Orleans Hotel. Obviously, the room rate is cheaper than the hotels at the Main Stripe.
Waiting for checking the lagguages and we met Sonny's son, Lawrance at the lobby. he flew from Minnesota to Las Vegas. He went there a day before us and we met him at the hotel lobby.
We supposed to check it around 3pm, but we were be able to check it earlier for some reason. It was about lunch time, so we drove though Vegas Chinatown, Spring Mountain. We decided to have Vietnamese food for lunch. Actually, the living costs at Las Vegas is pretty high. We spent 15 bucks per person for the lunch.

We had plenty of times until night. We located a shopping outlet from GPS. So we decided to spent our first day on shopping. It took us around an hour to the destination.

A few shots from the car when we on the way to the outlet:

this is the "Fashion Outlet" an hour away from Las Vegas downtown

Fashion Outlet
I first checked up at Nike Outlet. Things in outlet are definitely cheaper than any retail shop. This is the Nike shoe that I bought, 30 bucks for a Nike shoe. Great deal! Actually, I did not get it at the first time I saw. I decided to get it when we about to leave the outlet. As I think that really a good deal!
A few shots inside the Fashion Outlet

I bought Nike shoe, swim trunk, Hollister Jacket, and one American Egale bracelet at Fashion Outlet. The reason I bought the swim trunk as I forgot to bring it with me when I pack my lagguage.

We stopped by at Bass Pro Shop when we on the way back to Las Vegas downtown. This is the Bass Pro Shop in Las Vegas

Bass Pro Shop is same as Cabela's shop, is a retailer for the hunting and fishing equipment

I lost my new camera case and two memory card first day in Vegas. I was so pissed!! I guess I lost it when we shopped at Bass Pro Shop. I was glad as my camera still with me. I bought the camera case less than a week... And I felt bad as I lost the 2GB memory card is actually belong to Lydia. But I was glad as no pic in those two memory cards.

We backed to Chinatown to do the grocery shopping. We bought the some water and snacks at Chinese grocery. I was surprised as the beer is cheaper than water. $2.75 for a bottle water and 6 bucks for a pack of beer. We need water as the dry heat weather drive us crazy.

We took a rest and had couple drinks in the hotel lounge. It around 7pm we decided to go for dinner buffet at Wynn hotel. We passed by Main Stripe (Las Vegas Blvd). A few shots from the car. Many of the lagestest hotel, casino, and resort properties in the world are located in the Main Stripe. Every casino has a theme.

Luxor Hotel, the only 3p story pyramid-shaped hotel in the world

In Vegas, you can see the limos everywhere, especially during the night time. That's cool!!
Excalibur Hotel and Casino

New York New York Hotel and Casino
Busy traffic at Main Stripe during the night time. It was so crowded!!

Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, The Mirage Hotel and Casino

Waiting to check in for the Seafood Buffet and Wynn Hotel and Casino. This buffet is $40 per person. All you can eat buffet at Wynn Hotel and Casino. Taking pics while lining up...
This "The buffet" at Wynn Hotel and Casino, it's all you can eat buffet.
Hanging out and waiting for dinning... We took a picture in front of "The Buffet"
We had a wonderful dinner, the best I ever had. The food was so good!! Alsaka Crab Legs, Lobster, Lambs, Steaks, baby labm rib, Oyster, etc. The desserts were so nice!! It's worth for $40 per person. That's pretty much concluded our first day at Las Vegas. After dinner at Wynn, we walked through the crowded Main Stripe at Las Vegas. To be continued...
